The teams members were given the opportunity to share the word of God with those present at the Ministers' conference. Minister Charles preached during the Gospel crusade. Though it had rained just before the programme, it can be said that the crusade was successful. The brethren at Masai land gave the team souvenirs of Masai land which were their traditional red cloths.

Medical Team: Apostle Isaiah, Brother Brian, Sister Ruth, Sister Fausta, Sister Ememah, LP Daphine, Brother Vincent

A medical Team led by Apostle Isaiah Tengey, provided free medical care to various communities

Four communities were reached as part of the Mbarara crusades with medical care. The communities are; Masha in the Isingiro district, Rubaya in the Mbarara district, Kitabo in the Kiruhura district and Kashongi in the Kiruhura district. In all, a total of 1,370 people were screened and treated for various forms of disease conditions including; Hypotension, Diabetes, Malaria, Enteric fever, Peptic Ulcer disease, Urinary tract infection, Pelvic inflammatory disease, Candidiasis, etc. Out of the total number, 870 people treated were aged 40 years and above. These individuals were also screened for Hypertension and Diabetes. 237 of them recorded high blood pressures with 85 of them needing immediate treatment due to very high blood pressures, whilst the rest were asked to do further screening to confirm the Hypertension diagnoses. Thirty-five (35) of those over forty also had abnormally high sugar readings. Out of these 6 were known diabetics whilst 29 were newly diagnosed. 2 of these individuals were seen to have very high readings that needed immediate referral to the general hospital for emergency care.

OBSERVATIONS

  1. Many of the villages outside of the main Mbarara Township lack basic healthcare. There are no health facilities within distance to any of the communities that were involved in the medical camp apart from Masha, which had a health centre. Most of the inhabitants have to travel great lengths to seek healthcare. This discourages them from seeking healthcare.
  2. There is abject poverty within these communities. Many therefor do not even have the resources to access healthcare, which is not even available to them. Many of them are therefore living with very chronic conditions that they don’t seek any medical attention for.
  3. There is high prevalence of Hypertension in the adult population of these communities, many of which are not diagnosed. Out of the 870 whose blood pressures are checked, 27% had high BP readings, with very few knowing their Hypertension status. This is quite dangerous since most of them will only know their status only when a complication like stroke, heart failure or kidney failure sets in.
  4. There was very high enthusiasm among the locals to access the health camp with most of them coming in early to queue and wait patiently for the health personnel to attend to them. This I believe also help to advertise the crusade and other activities.
  5. Medications provided for the health camp were generally adequate, apart from some medications for Hypertension and Anemia which run out quite early. Other medications like Mg Trisilicate, Omeprazole, Ciprofloxacin, Cetirizine, Ampiclox suspension and Bactoclav suspension had enough left that could serve another community.

Pastors conferences and revival services were held in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania

Brother Charles Osei Mensah taught on 1 John 2:7 - "And as for you, the anointing which ye received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any one teach you; but as his anointing teacheth you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, ye abide in him."

He emphasised on the need for ministers and the church at large to develop the anointing within, “given to every believer”, and not to rely on the anointing given for service as it is the anointing within that sustains believers in the Kingdom of Christ and also enhances the anointing upon ministers for service. . In his teachings, he added that if the conducive environment is created for the anointing within to flourish, the anointing upon will

Pastor Bensis Peasah shared the need for daily personal devotions with Christ, Teaching out of Isaiah 37: 31 - "And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward:" making emaphasis that in the equation of success, consistency is better that intensity. While intense activities such as periodic long fasts and all night prayers are important, it is rather daily devotionals that build intimacy with God. Daily devotions are what Jesus practiced always isolationg himself to have intimacy with The Father..

Brother Akwasi Addai shared out of Acts 20: 28 - "Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood". He gave exhortations on the need for ministers to faithful stewards of the flock entrusted to them, calling on them to be ruthless when it came tto caring for the flock entrusted into their hands, as they had been bought with the precious Blood of Jesus Christ
